Celtic Speed travelled to Le Mans in France on July 6-8 for the le Mans Classic. This event takes place on the famous Le Mans 24 Circuit de la Sarthe and the Group C race in which they were competing with their Leyton House Porsche 962 was racing in the supporting event to the 24 hour Classic Le Mans.
Unlike the Le Mans 24 hour, the classic features 6 groups of cars competing 4 times over a 24 hour period and is hugely popular with drivers and fans alike. The circuit which is part permanent race track and part open road is a huge challenge and a venue where the Porsche brand has excelled over the years and they have a great history at the circuit having taken 17 victories in the race.
Tommy and Aaron raced the Leyton House car to an overall win in the race (despite a pit lane penalty) which featured 48 of the beautiful Group C cars which were so popular during the 80’s when Group C was as big as Formula 1. These cars certainly provided some of the unforgettable Le Mans moments as drivers such as Derek Bell and Hans Stuck made history in the great race.
