The Spa Group C meeting marked Tommy’s first race since the Silverstone Classic last July. Naturally all the team were looking forward to racing again with the Leyton House liveried Porsche 962.
As this was a one hour race Tommy opted to share the car with Aaron Scott. There were two qualifying sessions, the first of which was interrupted by a rare suspension breakage which luckily had minor consequences and the team did well to fix the car and get it back on track during the qualifying session. The second qualifying was spent focussing on as many laps as possible for Tommy and he was enjoying being back at the wheel, especially at Spa - always a wonderful track to drive.
Aaron and Tommy lined up in 8th place fort the 1 hour race. Tommy took the start and at the end of the lap he had a minor incident as the Budweiser Jaguar driven by Richard Eyre made light contact with Tommy breaking the exhaust and forcing an unscheduled pit stop. Tommy got going again quickly but the car lost a lap. Tommy & Aaron fought back to finish in 6th position also setting the 2nd fastest lap of the race and the fastest time amongst the Porsche 962 runners.
