Celtic Speed boss Tommy Dreelan rounded off this year's Group C Championship with an impressive double podium finish in the season finale, the Luigi Musso Historic Gran Prix at Imola.

Driving his Spice SE86, in partnership with Aaron Scott, Dreelan finished third overall, and second in the C2 class, in the 157km, one-hour race at the Enzo e Dino Ferrari Autodromo.

Dreelan, whose Spice clocked a fastest lap of 1min 44.995secs on the 4.9km track, finished behind the C2 Spice-Cosworth of winner Mike Donovan. Denmark's Henrik Lindberg was second in his Porsche 962.

The schedule at Imola allowed for plenty of track time for the Group C runners, with an hour of Free Practice on the Friday, two 45-minute qualifying sessions on the Saturday followed by the 60-minute race on the Sunday.

This gave a couple of the drivers the opportunity to test both of their cars before deciding on which one would take part in the race.

Scott played with Dreelan's recently-acquired Leyton House-liveried 962 during the first qualifying session, while Dreelan focussed fully on his No170 Spice SE86.

The Celtic Speed boss started from third on the grid in the Spice, alongside Lindberg’s No33 Tic Tac-liveried Porsche 962. Steve Tandy started from pole in his Nissan R90CK.

Conditions couldn’t have been better as the final race of the season began in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd, and the opening stages rewarded the spectators with some great action.

Dreelan handed the No170 Spice over to Scott on Lap 15 of the scheduled 32 and moved up to third overall before the flag to take second in C2.

"I've loved racing at Imola," a delighted Dreelan smled. "I've not been able to race much in Group C this year because of my other Historic racing commitments, but I can't wait for the new season to start.

"I've just bought a Porsche and am really looking forward to racing that, but the Spice is now part of the family so I'll still have that as well!"
