Celtic Speed Scottish Mini Cooper Cup champion David Sleigh left the latest double-header at Croft, near Darlington, having seen his advantage in the 2012 campaign cut.
While the Edinburgh racer could only manage a third and a fourth, it was Carl Bradley and Glasgow's Malcolm McNab who took the wins.
The opening race saw Bradley, who has switched from the Renault Clio Championship, finish comfortably ahead of Edinburgh's Tim Sleigh, 2.255secs adrift, and brother David.
McNab, who finished sixth in the opener, started from second position on the reverse grid for the second race alongside polesitter, Thornhill's Ross Wylie.
While Hawick's Hamish Brandon was spun on to the grass second after the start, McNab had eased himself into the lead by the end of the first lap.
And despite losing the lead on lap six of the 10-lap race, McNab retook the position when he darted down the inside of George Orr's Mini at the end of the lap.
And despite having a fairly major slide on the penultimate lap, McNab held on to take his first win.
Behind him Bradley worked his way through from seventh on the grid and grabbed second place when he muscled his way past Tim Sleigh at the final corner of the race, the left-hand Hairpin.
Edinburgh's Kenny Brewster won the day's award for most overtaking moves. Starting from the back row of the grid in 26th, having failed to finish race one, he stormed through to finish seventh.
In the Ladies Cup, Elaine Marshall extended her lead in the title race. The Tullibody racer finished ahead of Carnoustie's Fiona Wallace in both races, with California's Emma Bruce third.
