Edinburgh's David Sleigh held his nerve to clinch the inaugural Celtic Speed Scottish Mini Cooper Cup after a thrilling double-header finale at Knockhill.
Sleigh, who entered the weekend leading his closest rival, fellow Edinburgh racer Vic Covey jnr, by 20 points, immediately saw the gap reduced.
While Chris Smiley won the opener, Covey jnr took second ahead of third-placed Tim Sleigh: brother David had to content himself with fifth.
But even worse was to follow for the champion-elect when he failed to score in the penultimate race of the season. But with Covey jnr only managing to score one point in the race won by Tim Sleigh, the title was all but decided.
While Alan Waugh won the final reversed-grid race of the season, the Sleigh brothers completed the podium places with Tim second and David third. Covey jnr finished seventh.
"That was a tough weekend, but thankfully the results eventually worked in my favour," the newly-crowned champ, who ironically finished 20 points ahead of Covey jnr, admitted.
"It was a long, difficult weekend, but to win the championship with three race wins was the ultimate result for me.
"The fact Tim came through to take third in the championship, and win the 2011 Newcomers title meant it was a great result for Team Sleigh Racing."
Fiona Wallace took the Celtic Speed Scottish Mini Cooper Ladies Cup, finishing ahead of her closest rival Elaine Marshall — who won all three final rounds - with Emma Bruce third.
