Edinburgh's David Sleigh bagged pole position, as the championship headed south to Cadwell Park. The Athena-backed racer edged ahead of Vic Covey jr in qualifying by just two-tenths of a second.

It all went horribly wrong though for David when he lost control at the Gooseneck and found himself spinning uncontrollably in front of the chasing pack.

Thankfully, everyone backed off and, and after somehow missing everyone David - through combination of luck and instant responses - was able to rejoin, albeit back in fourth.

Covey inherited the lead and stayed in front for the next eight laps.

Sleigh though was a man on a mission and, having carved his way through the field found himself locked on to the bumper of Covey.

With two laps to go, he was back out in front, establishing a new lap record on the way. Covey, whose car had been suffering from a gearbox problem, had to content himself with second, with Tim Sleigh completing the podium. Alan Waugh was fourth, with Fiona Wallace winning the Ladies Cup battle.

The top five were reversed on the grid for the start of race two, which meant Kyle Reid stated from pole, alongside Waugh.

However, it wasn't long before the Sleigh brothers had made their combined way to the front.

But while David drove to another dominant victory, brother Tim lost out on second when, having been overtaken by Covey, slid off into a tyrewall while trying to re-take the position.

That left Covey — who took the lap record from David Sleigh on the final lap - in second, with Chris Smiley third. The double-victory also means David Sleigh now heads to the next meeting leading the championship.

In the Ladies Cup, Fiona Wallace, like Sleigh, completed a double victory finishing ahead of Elaine Marshall and Emma Bruce.
