Celtic Speed fired up for Silverstone finale
Celtic Speed heads to Silverstone this weekend for the final double-header in the Porsche Carrera Cup. And the St Cyrus-based team is on the verge of clinching two fantastic results in the championship.
Kirkcaldy's Rory Butcher, in his first full season in sportcars, knows two solid results at the Northamptonshire circuit will clinch second place in the highly competitive Porsche Carrera Cup Pro-Am1 Championship.
"It's been a solid season so far," explained the 24-year-old, who was pipped to the title by the vastly more experienced Lithuanian, Jonas Gelzinis.
"I've had my fair share of class wins and podium finishes, so overall I've got to be satisfied with my performances.
"I've also got to say a big thanks to everyone in the Celtic Speed team. Consistently they've given me a highly competitive car at all the rounds, and it would be great way to finish the season with a couple of podiums."
Edinburgh's George Brewster, meanwhile, is set to clinch the Pro-Am2 title, but again knows he must deliver two solid performances at Silverstone this weekend.
"Motorsport always has that uncanny knack of delivering surprises," Brewster said, "but I'll be doing everything I can this weekend to clinch the championship."
And the performances of Rory and George were praised by team boss Tommy Dreelan.
"The boys have done a sterling job right through the season," Dreelan, who himself has bag a number of Pro-Am 2 podium finishes, said. "Hopefully we can leave Silverstone with one title and a runners-up spot; that would be a pretty good way to end the season."
