Uphill Battle As Rory Gets Win
RORY BUTCHER was on the ropes in the Porsche Carrera Cup, but recovered to land a knockout blow at Knockhill. The Kirkcaldy ace, left, suffered a ProAm1 title blow when he was hit in race one.
The Celtic Speed team won a race against time to fix it for race two, and Butcher paid them back by driving a flawless
race to take the class win.
He admitted: “Overall, it was disappointing because we wanted two wins. We can forget about race one, but race two
we got the class win and fastest lap as well.
“That is something to take away and we leave on a high.”
Edinburgh’s GEORGE BREWSTER won both ProAm2 races, while Aberdeen’s TOMMY DREELAN bagged a podium finish.
MARINO FRANCHITTI was back at Knockhill — ten years after his last race at the circuit. And he bagged a Ginetta GT SuperCup third place. He also managed fifth and ninth-place finishes in the guest car.
The Bathgate ALMS champ said: “It was a lot of fun racing back home.
“It was a bit of a baptism of fire, but I was delighted with the progress we made.”
FERGUS WALKINSHAW, from Edinburgh, had his best Super- Cup finish, with fifth in class.
